Description: | Brindley Sherratt is one of the most respected bass singers in the world of Opera. Highlights of his 2021/22 season include: Oliver Mears’ production of Rigoletto as well as Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, both at Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; Hunding in Richard Jones’ production of The Valkyrie for the English National Opera and Swallow in Stefan Herheim’s production of Peter Grimes at the Bayerische Staatsoper. Concert appearances include Gremin Eugene Onegin with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Brindley’s debut role as Gurnemanz in Parsifal with the Orchestra of Opera North. Future seasons see him return to the Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper; the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence as well as making his company debut with Opera National de Paris. Born in Lancashire into a family of strong singers, Brindley initially studied trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music. After winning several opera competitions which he entered “for experience” he then went on to study singing. He is now a Fellow and visiting Professor at the Academy. Reading Phoenix Choir and the Berkshire Youth Choir (who will be fresh from their appearances at the Edinburgh Festival.) will be performing with Brindley Sherratt at Reading's Concert Hall in an evening of musical entertainment led by Brindley Sherratt himself singing pieces from his new CD which is being launched at this concert.A unique evening's entertainment that should not be missed. |
