Reading Phoenix Choir has a long tradition of commissioning original pieces of music and arrangements of existing pieces.
Most recently, several pieces on the new CD were arranged especially for the choir. These are ‘Des pas sur la neige‘ by Debussy, arranged by Benjamin Oliver; ‘Eine keine kochkunst lied’ (an arrangement of Strauss’ ‘Pizzicato Polka’) by Toby Young; and an arrangement by former Musical Director David Crown of the second movement of Elgar’s Serenade for Strings, ‘Larghetto’, set to the words of ‘Ave Maria’. Look out for these tracks on the choir’s CD recording From The Flames
Friends of Phoenix
Reading Phoenix Choir has a large following of supporters, the Friends of Phoenix. Find out more about what being a Friend offers you on our Friends page.
Reading Phoenix Choir is riding the wave of popular interest in choral music and has ambitions to raise its media profile even higher across the region.
With all the concerts, activities, recordings and tours, the choir (which operates as a charity) has significant running costs. We are keen to talk to businesses who can support us through sponsorship.
The benefits? The choir’s concert programmes, website, CDs and promotional posters can be used for promoting your business – for example the main annual concert in Reading attracts a full house audience of over 800 people.
We would be delighted to have a chat about your sponsorship idea, so please get in touch.
